Ozone pollution alert set for Wednesday in Austin, other Texas cities

Austin on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, will be breathing levels of ozone that could pose an unhealthy risk for some residents, according to a forecast released by state air quality officials.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality issued an ozone action day alert for Wednesday not only for Austin but also for San Antonio, Dallas and Houston.

Ground-level ozone, which is created when sunlight and industrial emissions mix, can make it harder for people with respiratory problems, like asthma, to breathe.
