Grant Funds for Reducing Air Emissions from School Buses

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is now accepting applications for the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan, Texas Clean School Bus program. Texas school districts, charter schools and transportation systems provided by countywide school districts are invited to help Texas reduce air emissions from diesel-powered school buses.

Applications will be accepted first-come, first-served until 5:00 p.m. CST, Tuesday, April 26, 2019, or until all available funds have been awarded.

Texas schools can apply for TCSB grants statewide to replace their pre-2007 diesel-fueled school buses with brand new school buses, or use funds to cover costs associated with the purchase and installation of eligible retrofit systems. School buses proposed for replacement or retrofit must be used on a regular daily route to and from a school during the standard school year and have at least five years of useful life remaining.

Maximum grant amounts for school bus replacement projects are included in the TCSB Request for Grant Applications. TCSB grants may reimburse up to 100 percent of the cost to purchase and install a retrofit device and associated equipment.
